The book received great critical acclaim. Maybe that is why some dishes have more than two tablespoons of olive oil in a serving! To call her work ‘cookbooks’ is both a misnomer and to sell them short. I enjoyed that this cookbook had recipes from three different Middle Eastern regions. Interweaving history, stories, and her own observations, she gives us of the most delectable recipes: While every Middle Eastern country aeabesque had its share of invasion and imperial powers, nowhere has seen as many conquerors as Lebanon, a history which is reflected in Lebanon’s cosmopolitan and multifarious cuisine. I’ve only checked it coaudia from the library and didn’t get to cook much from it, but the Chicken with Caramelized Baby Onions and Pears is delicious! I’ve started using pomegranate molasses claudiia so many non-Lebanese dishes I picked up this book at the library for the Lebanese recipes, but I had to renew it in order to try some of the Moroccan and Turkish dishes, too. I love this book, Rode have used a lot of the recipes and each one I have tried has been great. I agree with earlier posters who love the hardcover edition.
